The museum “Tomás Morales” in Moya (Gran Canaria) is the birth place and home of the Canary poet. Tomás Morales (1884-1921) was influenced by Modernism and adapted the expressionistic aspects and the music of the art movement to the themes of the sea and of Gran Canaria, his birth island.
Visitors pass through different rooms that bring them close to the literary figure, as well as to the person Tomás Morales, known as „the poet of the sea“, thanks to the exhibited documental heritage. The building was inaugurated as museum in October 1976. This institution was founded with the mission of securing the biographic and historical memory of the Canary poet and protecting his art.
