StartGran CanariaPalmitos Park

Founded in 1978 and renovated in 2008 in Maspalomas, it is a zoo and a botanical garden park that is home to native species and species from other parts of the world. If you are enjoying a family holiday in Dunas Hotels & Resorts it will be a perfect plan for all of you.

The most popular attractions at Palmitos Park are its dolphinarium, the aquarium and its variety of birds and reptiles. The dolphinarium has 5 bottlenose dolphins and a grandstand for 1,500 people. Palmitos Park has two aquariums: one of fresh water and another one of salty water. In the latter you will see surprising and striking marine species such as the Surgeonfish or the Scorpionfish, both of them poisonous and others a little bit more "friendly" like the Clownfish, children's favourite one.

The Palmitos Park's spectacular aviary, in the south of Gran Canaria, has parrots, hornbills, toucans, pelicans and many more species that will surprise you.

As botanical garden, Palmitos Park has several attractions: the largest collection of orchids in the Canary Islands, hundreds of species of cactus, some of them are more than 4 meters high and a great collection of over 1,000 palm trees from various corners of the world.

Moreover, Palmitos Park collaborates with conservation wildlife species' programs with captive breeding of endangered species (European Endangered Species Program), organizes educational activities to raise awareness about respecting the environment and biodiversity and also collaborates with universities and research centres.
