StartGran CanariaEl Bufadero de la Garita in Telde

Charming towns and neighbourhoods, history, traditional houses, crowded and family orientated beaches... Have a day’s getaway from Dunas Hotels & Resorts and discover all the magic Telde has to offer you.

We’d like to suggest alternative plans to what is introduced to the general tourism. Southern beaches and leisure activities are great, but we’d also like to show you other less known areas that we believe they have much charm. Telde is a little less than half an hour from the south of the island; especially frequented by those who live in Gran Canaria. Its coastline offers beaches where families can enjoy a day’s rest. Melenara Salinetas, Tufia, Hoya del Pozo ... are some of those beaches chosen by many from the capital of the island. Two of the main reasons for going there are how close they are to the city and how easy is to get to all of them.

Playa de la Garita, is a very special place, and one of the wonders hidden in Telde. At one point of the promenade you’ll get to el Bufadero -the blowhole-; two large cavities in the rocks, where the ocean water flows in and out at high speed. It is called Bufadero because these rocks are hollow inside. When the tide rises, these holes "spit" water as a jet and play a very special and distinctive sound. This type of geological formation is the largest in Gran Canaria of its kind. If you love nature and you are going to be a few days on the island, it is highly recommended to go to visit it. It is a place you can spend hours watching and listening to as it feels time stops there.

Many are afraid of being so close to Nature’s force, for others, however, it is a place to relax and let go and a great gift to end the day with. Nonetheless, you must always be very careful and not to swim in this area since it is very dangerous even for those who know it well. If your day’s plan includes a swim, nothing better than Playa de La Garita or any others mentioned above.

Next to El Bufadero there is a viewpoint with a bench precisely to offer visitors a place to enjoy the show without any risk.

If this has attracted your attention, either by the type of plan or because you were totally unaware of such corner of the island, you only have to go to the coast of Telde. But be aware of the tides, because when you’ll really enjoy el Bufadero is when the tide is rising high.
