Tatiana Alonso, reception assistant

17 Aug 2017

Tatiana Alonso Domínguez, from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, started her internship in the Reception’ Department and is now part of the team at Dunas Mirador Mapalomas. We have been chatting with her to find out a little more about her position and opinion about Gran Canaria.

Tatiana, how long have you been working within the tourism industry?

I've been in the industry for five years.

And with us at Dunas Hotels & Resorts? Are you always at the same hotel?

I've been here for four years. Yes, always in the Dunas Mirador Maspalomas, where I started my apprenticeship.

What is your position and what are your functions?

I am Reception’s Assistant. My duties are to take care of the check-ins and check-outs of the guests, give them information about the leisure and especial interest places they can visit, answer any phone queries, etc.

What do you like most about your job at the Dunas Mirador Maspalomas reception?

What I like most about my job is to know that our guests have had a wonderful holiday stay with us. Every department in the hotel is focused on giving the best service and value and so, knowing that we have achieved our goal is truly rewarding.

What are the most complicated challenges of your job?

The hardest challenge is when any of our guests have had some kind of problems and leave with bittersweet memories of their holidays.

What places would you recommend visiting when someone is coming to Gran Canaria for the first time?

The best thing about our island is the diversity of landscapes. If someone visits Gran Canaria for the first time, I would recommend: camelback riding around the Dunes of Maspalomas, having lunch in Anfi del Mar, a shopping afternoon in Triana, in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and the stunning sunset in Roque Nublo.

Do you have any favourite restaurant or corner in Gran Canaria?

Oh, yes! My favourite corner is an area of Playa de las Canteras Beach, in times of stress I like to sit in La Cicer and just breathe...

To close this brief interview, would you like to share any funny or emotional anecdotes with guests or your colleagues at Dunas Hotels & Resorts?

As an emotional remembrance, I would point out the end of apprenticeship farewells. It is sad to say goodbye to colleagues who have been with us for a while. And fun moments with my colleagues ... there are many but I would say that the staff parties are something to write home about! LOL! Long life to the Mirador’s team!
