Daniel Pérez, reception assistant at Mirador Maspalomas

24 Apr 2018

Daniel Pérez Cabrera has been a reception assistant at the Mirador Maspalomas by Dunas hotels for the past two years.

We interviewed Daniel Pérez Cabrera, reception assistant at Mirador Maspalomas for the past two years. Daniel started his internship in May 2016 and, from November of that same year he joined the hotel’s team. Before this position, he already had several years’ experience looking after clients in the Tourism industry. We have interviewed him to learn more about his position and to find out what are his recommendations on the island of Gran Canaria.

Hi Daniel, what places would you recommend visiting to tourists who come to Gran Canaria for the very first time?

In Gran Canaria, there is great diversity of landscapes and plans. We have beaches, mountains ... I’d personally like to recommend a visit to Puerto de Mogán, the caves of Guayadeque, Agüimes and the small town of Tejeda. Those are places that I would not miss, without forgetting the beaches, of course.

Do you have a favourite corner or restaurant in Gran Canaria?

I always go to a beach in Ojos de Garza, because it is super quiet and there is a small bar restaurant called Zurita, it is next to the sea. Highly recommended.

What is your position in Mirador Maspalomas? What are your main tasks?

My position is reception assistant and among other functions I take care of the check-in and check-out and making sure that our guest’s experience is memorable.

What is the most you like about your job?

For me, the main thing is that the guests are satisfied and enjoy their holidays. I love when our guests are happy and eager to visit us again.

What are the challenges in your job?

The main challenge is that you must be focused on what you are doing and have good communication with all the departments. For me it is essential to write down everything, because you could forget something that could later affect a guest. The most complicated thing is when you face something new and you have to find a quick solution, but we are a great team, so we always resolved things together.

Do you remember any funny or emotional anecdote in Mirador Maspalomas?

My greatest professional satisfaction is when guests value our work and let us know. Sometimes, they even bring a present to us. It is extremely satisfying to see clients enjoying their holidays.
