Many of those who come to Dunas Hotels & Resorts, do so with the intention of resting and spending some quiet and disconnected holidays. And they all agree that one of the ideal plans is to spend the day at the hotel or the nearest beach.
However, others come to Dunas Hotels & Resorts looking for fun, and exciting plans. For all of them, Gran Canaria offers a wide variety of plans. There are excursions, water activities, hiking trails ... and cetacean watching marine excursions.
The beaches of Gran Canaria, its coast and its wonderful interior landscapes are not the only wonders that this island has to offer. Our privilege waters have great variety of dolphins and whales. It is one of the most popular activities in the Canarian archipelago. Its waters are unique for watching these animals due to its unique biodiversity, the characteristics and temperature.
The sighting of cetaceans is one of the greatest plans for those who enjoy nature experiences. Mother Nature can offer you water hidden treasures to enjoy at the same time you learn new things.
Gran Canaria has unique conditions for cetacean watching. During these marine excursions you’ll be able to see from small spotted dolphins to thirty-meter long whales. There are also pilot whales and flying fish and turtles and just a couple of miles from the coast of Gran Canaria you’ll find any cetacean species.
During the marine excursion, the crew will tell you about the characteristics and particularities of the different species of cetaceans which will be seen. Meanwhile, you can see these creatures in their natural environment, jumping, fishing and playing with the waves from the ship in which you travel.
Cetaceans have fun in the south of the island. The sea is calm, oxygenated by the trade winds of the north which makes it irresistible for them. Dolphins start playing from the rising sun, so any time is perfect to see them dancing in the ocean waters. They offer one of the purest spectacles in nature and great excitement in their audience who have come all the way to admired them.
There are two-hour whale watching excursions that leave port a couple of times a day. The excursion objective is meeting theses stunning creatures swimming along in the sea.
