The best viewpoints of Gran Canaria

15 Jun 2017

Gran Canaria’s geology has many height variations which create numerous ravines and summits. With such magnificent views, every corner of the island should have a place from where to enjoy them. In fact, Gran Canaria already counts with a great net of viewpoints which make the activity of contemplating the beauty of its stunning landscapes a very comfortable one.

Touring the island by car, you’ll find many places where to stop to enjoy the sights, take some pics or just a rest. Each of these viewpoints offers different sceneries. Having such varied landscapes from one area to the next, in just few hours Gran Canaria will amaze you with its diversity.

In the most popular corners of the island you will always find a place where to stop and breathe-in unique landscapes. Viewpoint routes are the perfect way to know the geological richness of our island.

Discovering the viewpoints’ network that bring together the best landscapes of Gran Canaria is a real must, and if you stretch the day until sunset the views will captivate you so profoundly that you won’t find the moment to go.

You will be able to see both the north and south, the summits and the coast. In order to make this route more pleasant and complete, the island of Gran Canaria’s viewpoints have grown in number, and some of the old ones are being restored to the highest safety standards at the same time they are nicely integrated into nature. An authentic luxury to enjoy the island!

Some of the viewpoints that we’d like to recommend you are the Mareta, in La Garita, Telde and the lighthouse of La Sardina, in Gáldar, one of the best sunsets you'll see on the island.

Up to now, the city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria didn’t have a modern viewpoint to discover the capital from the sky, and so people have been used to go to the district of Las Coloradas, a place between volcanoes which offers the beautiful views of El Confital and La Isleta, a traditional fishermen’s town. From this small peninsula you will be delighted to see Las Canteras beach on one side, and Puerto de la Luz and Las Palmas on the other.

If instead of seeing the capital city of the island you rather climb to the sky, we recommend you go to the summits: Tejeda (Cruz de Tejeda), Artenara and Agaete have great viewpoints from where you’ll contemplate not only a wide view of island’s landscape but some of Gran Canaria’s neighbour islands as well.

When you come to Dunas Hotels & Resorts we always encourage you to take advantage of your days here to visit the interior of the island and these viewpoints are certainly a great reason to do so!
