Essential Restaurants in Gran Canaria

10 Nov 2016

One of the attractions of travelling is to enjoy the local cuisine from the places you visit, as well as visiting the most typical and authentic restaurants because of their location or their gastronomic ranking.

In Gran Canaria there is a wide range of bars and restaurants, many of them frequented by the inhabitants of the island and others more geared toward tourism. In this article, we will propose some charming places, where both people from Gran Canaria and those who visit us go to. The opinions, whether one or the other, are always satisfactory.

Below you’ll find a selection of the best restaurants on the island of Gran Canaria. Some of them in the capital, Las Palmas; others, in the southern part of the island, near the Dunas Hotels & Resorts. We suggest that you try each and every one of them!

Recommended restaurants in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

La Deliciosa Marta

In Las Palmas city centre, you have two outstanding restaurants. The first on is Deliciosa Marta, described by those who live in the city as the best restaurant on the island. Its Spanish specialties menu is well taken care of and the product is always fresh and of high quality. The place is small, because its owner likes to serve all the tables and receive direct feedback from her clients. It is located in Calle Perez Galdós 23, around Calle Mayor de Triana. It opens every day except Sundays and Tuesday nights; from 13:30 to 16:00 and from 21:00 to 23:30. During summertime it closes in August (Phone: 928.370.882). It has a long waiting list, so if you wouldn’t like to miss it, we recommend you book in advance.

La Marinera

La Marinera is the other restaurant in Gran Canaria we’d like to recommend, not only because of their gastronomic offer but because of its location. It is one of the most established restaurants of the capital of the island among both natives and tourists who visit La Playa de Las Canteras. It is located in La Puntilla, right on the beach next to the avenue. At La Marinera you’ll enjoy fabulous fresh fish dishes, the most traditional cuisine of the island together with the spectacular views of this beautiful and well-known beach. It opens daily from 12:30 to 00:30 hours and it is located in Paseo de las Canteras, 1 (Phone #: 928 468 802).

Recommended restaurants in southern Gran Canaria

In the southern part of the island of Gran Canaria there is a wide offer but the noteworthy ones will be: La Palmera Sur, Loopy's and N'Enoteca.

La Palmera Sur

La Palmera Sur is a charming restaurant which offers Canarian cuisine with some Oriental touches. Its products stand out because they are fresh and seasonal. The place is small and modern, and the service is definitely outstanding. Everyone who goes comes back. It is located in Calle Placido Domingo, 12, in San Fernando (Phone #: 659 598 003). It opens every day except Mondays, from 13:00 to 16:00 and from 20:30 to 00:00.

N'Enoteca

N'Enoteca is highly valued among tourists visiting the village of Mogán. It is a very charming place and a must if you travel to the island of Gran Canaria. After strolling among its colourful houses and bougainvillea, having lunch at N'Enoteca is a great option. Its menu is based on homemade dishes and delicious desserts, both Italian and Spanish cuisine. It is located in the resort of Puerto Mogán, Local 380/381 (Phone #: 673 347 886) and it opens daily to offer dinner service only from 18:30 to 22:30.

Loopy's

And last but not least of our recommendations is Loopy’s, one of the most typical restaurants of the island. An islanders Must since the eighties after a day at the southern beach on their late way back home. Their most popular dishes are pizzas, pasta and steak. The menu is long and varied, offering all kinds of dishes, desserts and drinks. Loopy's service team is very charming. It is located at Calle Las Retamas, 7, in San Agustín (Phone # 928 762 407) and it opens daily from 12:00 to 00:00.

Despite having recommended a choice of just five restaurants, the variety, both in location and in their menus, will offer you different options when choosing a nice place for lunch and dinner. Choices are almost endless Gran Canaria, let us know through our Social Media profiles if you’d add one more to this list!
