The four hotels by Dunas Hotels & Resorts; Mirador Maspalomas, Suites & Villas, Maspalomas Resort and Don Gregory have obtained the Travelife Gold Certificate for Sustainable Tourism after passing the corresponding audits.
In recent years, the practices at our hotels have been adapted to the standards required by the Travelife certification, which perfectly match our philosophy and values as well as what our guests expect from the place they spend their holidays. The principal objective of this certification is to reflect the respect for people, nature and care for the cultural aspects of the place the business operates in, in our case, the island of Gran Canaria.
As a company within the ecosystem of tourism in Gran Canaria, we have the responsibility and the commitment to fight for sustainability, and Travelife is an international certificate that helps its over 1,300 member hotels all around the world to improve the impact that we have through developing our services. The key is to maintain the balance between these three aspects: to protect the environment, to guarantee the social well-being of the local population and to ensure economic balance in the long term.
To comply with these objectives, in our hotels we carry out the following actions, among others:
- we spread information about places of interest, culture and gastronomy in the Canary Islands and on Gran Canaria in particular.
- we focus on boosting the economy in the Canary Islands region, prioritising local suppliers and also demanding certain sustainability requirements from them, too.
- we reaffirm our commitment to society in the Canary Islands, among other actions, through sponsorship of regional sports and various charitable causes.
- we are committed to caring for the environment, seeking more ecological solutions and aiming to reduce our consumption of water and electricity.
