Half day trip around Gran Canaria

23 Mar 2018

A plan we recommend for your next stay at Dunas Hotels & Resorts: take half-day trip and get to know one of the corners we talk about on this post, it will only take half a day from your holidays!

Visit an impressive volcanic caldera or the largest botanical garden in Spain.

Botanical excursion in Gran Canaria: Botanical Garden

One of the plans that we are going to show you is closely related to nature, to history and, above all, to the endemic flora of Gran Canaria. The Botanical Garden of Viera y Clavijo is the perfect place to go for half-day trip and discover the variety of flora that the island has.

The Botanical Garden of Gran Canaria is the largest in Spain and it is home to a great variety of plants, endemic species of the Canary Islands (not only from Gran Canaria). It is a very well cared for space that shows, in each walkway of the garden, the dedication and the studies and preparation behind it.

If you’d like to know the abundant botanical wealth of our region, we recommend a visit to this Botanical Garden of over more than twenty-seven hectares.

The initial idea of the garden was to build a place to show all the botanical wealth of the island, and it has become a complex and modern space where you can learn much about Gran Canaria and its flora. For botany lovers is a great paradise and for the rest, a perfect plan for a half-day trip.

If you are spending a few days in Dunas Hotels & Resorts, we recommend you leave the beach at rest for half-day trip and lose yourself in this magical place.

Volcanic trip in Gran Canaria: Caldera de Bandama

Another ideal place to go for half-day tour in Gran Canaria is the Caldera de Bandama, where you’ll be amazed by its crater and the wonderful views of this part of the island of Gran Canaria.

Many of those who visit Dunas Hotels & Resorts choose La Caldera de Bandama as their half-day trip, and thus, know what may have been the most recent eruption of Gran Canaria.

If you choose to enjoy half-day trip to the Caldera de Bandama you have two options. One of them is to climb El Pico de Bandama, the highest point of this volcanic area. From here, you’ll fall in love with a new perspective of the island while sighting the coast of Gran Canaria as far as your eyes can see. Another route that you can choose to go for half-day trip is down into the crater to discover the area covered with volcanic ash and the plant species that grew on it.

This volcano is four thousand years old and its crater is one kilometre in diameter and two hundred meters deep.

Whatever is your favourite one out of these two options, if you are thinking about going for half-day trip in Gran Canaria you should know that this plan is a must.

If you have already decided to go for this half-day trip the following indications will be of value to you: La Caldera de Bandama is located in the northeast of the island of Gran Canaria, and together with El Pico de Bandama form the natural monument of Bandama. It is located between the municipalities of Santa Brígida, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Telde; and can be accessed by road, and the descent to the interior of the Caldera is done on foot through a path route.
