Gran Canaria, the perfect springtime destination

March 21, 2016, 1:25 p.m.

Gran Canaria is a great destination to enjoy a springtime break.
The Canary Islands are an archipelago with mild weather throughout the year. Spring offers many advantages when travelling to the Fortunate islands.

If there’s anything Canary Islands can be proud of is its good weather throughout the year. There are many tourists who come to the islands not only to spend their summer holidays but any other time off they have in the year.

Have you ever spent springtime in Gran Canaria? It is actually Nordic countries’ favourite time in the islands. They choose this time of year because the weather is very pleasant and the temperatures are milder than in summertime. It’s the perfect weather. Enjoying some peaceful time just to relax at the beach is one of the many great choices of the season, and it is less crowded than in summertime. Our visitors are very attracted to our beaches. Everyone has heard about Gran Canaria’ beaches.

Springtime in Gran Canaria is perfect for going to the beach, perfect for hiking, perfect for water sports and perfect simply just to go for a walk around the shopping areas. There are a wide variety of plans for this time of year, and we’d like to recommend you three of them particularly:

Sports during spring in Gran Canaria

Gran Canaria is an ideal island to practice various sports. Many tourists come to playing golf under the sunshine; and there are also many others who come to enjoy all the diverse choices there are at the seaside: Surfing, windsurfing, paddlesurf... Springtime’s climate is just perfect for any of these sports.

Hiking inland during spring in Gran Canaria

As we have told you on other occasions, in Gran Canaria there are plenty of inland hiking trails to discover to be in close contact with local nature and discovering very interesting places is possible in this season. Check here some of our recommended Hiking Trails in Gran Canaria.

Spring Shopping in Gran Canaria

The island has several shopping areas. Shopping areas where you can go for a walk and buy some souvenirs from the island. Prices are lower than in other places so tourists take advantage of it. If you are staying with us in the south of the island, you can go shopping in the district of Meloneras where there is also a shopping centre which has many boutiques and international brands. This area also has many bars and restaurants, the perfect plan to end a shopping day. If you like going to shopping centres, you can visit Centro Comercial El Tablero in the Maspalomas district, near Dunas Mirador Maspalomas.

If you are spending one day visiting Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, you will even have more options to enjoy a day of shopping. You can go along Calle Mayor de Triana, which is a pedestrian zone located near the old town; but you can also walk around and shop around Mesa y López, one of the commercial districts of the island of Gran Canaria. Here, you can also go to other shopping centres such as: Centro Comercial El Muelle, Centro Comercial Las Arenas, Centro Comercial Siete Palmas, etc.
