Every year, the crib is built in an area of more than 1.000 square meters and consist of about 1.200 statues. Those of of the central scene can even be admired in original size. Besides the typical crib statues, you can see small waterfalls, lakes with fishes, deep canyons and majestic mountains in miniature.
Another highlight of the exhibition is a light play which represents the change between night and day. Furthermore, rain and Vulcan smoke are simulated. The crib represents scenes from the old testament, from the new testament and from the Canary history. The “Stones and Craftwork Museum” has arranged this year even a replica of the place, where Jesus Christ was born.
The Christmas crib can be visited every day from 09:00 a.m. to 06:00 p.m. – on Sundays even until 07:30 p.m. until the 6th of January .The entry only costs 1,- Euro. Do not miss to visit the “Stones and Craftwork Museum”, where you can find a great collection of minerals and Canary craftwork.
Besides the crib you should also visit the old town of Ingenio with its around 29.000 inhabitants and the canyon of Guayadeque with its cave flats and cave restaurants. Lots of the walks, that lead to the center of the island, also start in Ingenio.
How do you get to Ingenio?
You can reach Ingenio without any problems on the motorway GC-1. The buses 36 and 41 go several times a day from the Lighthouse of Maspalomas to Ingenio.
