Barranco de Guayadeque

Are you going to stay in one of our hotels in the south of Gran Canaria and you are looking for a different plan? If in addition to enjoying the sun, the beaches and the pools of our hotels in Maspalomas, you'd like to take advantage of your holidays to discover more around the island of Gran Canaria, we encourage you to visit the Barranco de Guayadeque.

Barranco de Guayadeque

The Guayadeque ravine is located in the southeast of Gran Canaria, between the towns of Agüimes and Ingenio, and is about 15 kilometers long. You can go trekking along its natural trails while learning more about Canary's native traditions. In the gorge there are numerous natural caves which thousands of years ago used to be authentic troglodyte habitats and that nowadays have been converted into homes as well as restaurants.

You can stroll along Guadaleque's paths and enjoy the botanical value of the area, with over 80 different species of cacti, agaves, Canary pine trees, palm trees, and even fruit trees. It is especially interesting to visit it in winter, to enjoy the splendour of the green vegetation in full bloom and the almond tree blossoms (January-February).

After the hiking you can have a delicious Canarian gastronomic rest in one of the picturesque cave restaurants of the area. You have several to choose from and in any of them you'll taste all the typical dishes of the island.
