Every year around Christmas time a proper competition on the Canary Islands takes place to see who draws up the most beautiful Christmas crib. In all parts of the island, the birth of Jesus is shown in the form of magnificent and impressive cribs, which are admired not only by tourists but also by locals.

We remind you that you can collect points with: direct bookings (central of reservation, Dunas Club or online on our website www.dunashotels.com) and the food and drink in our restaurants and bars.

On our website you can see all your points collected since the expiry date of your member card. After 5 years the points will expire which results in a status reduction and a changing of the card. On our website you find all the available prizes and can decide how to convert your points before they expire.

With the aim to improve the Dunas Club, we have changed some paragraphs of our program participation conditions. Please read the modifications of the 4 paragrahps in total which also will be published in the new brochure Dunas Club.

The Dunas Club broadened its partners program and offers now even more benefits to the clients who are accommodated in the Dunas hotels. We signed a contract with a Canary company which owns different Douglas perfumeries and shops of the brand Esprit on the island of Gran Canaria.

This year, Easter will be celebrated from 18th to 24th April. During this special time many processions are organized in the cities and villages.

Cornmeal, which is existing since centuries, is a one of the basic food in Canary cooking. Nowadays, many different cereals like wheat, maize, corn, broad beans or rye are needed for the manufacturing. It is an energetic food, because it neither contains any artificial colouring nor preservatives. It contains iron, calcium, magnesium, sodium and vitamin C.

The Dunas Club has planned to make a video for promotion in the capital Las Palmas de Gran Canaria during an excursion guided by the "virtual guide" from Smarttour, the new partner of the Dunas Club.

From November 2010 on, all the lovers of animals can donate some of their points for the caring of the kittens at the Dunas Suites & Villas Resort that colaborates since the month of August 2008 with the Association for animals "Auxilio Animal S.A." A donation of 20 points contributes to collect 1,- Euro for the cats´s food.

Since the 1st September 2010 all of the Dunas Hotels are colaborating with the known animation company ACTTIV. It is a company with 20 years of expierience in the field of entertainment for children as well as for teens and adults offering sportive activities, games and diferent shows.

As it has been already done in the last years, they are building a crib out of sand at the Beach of Las Canteras in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria for Christmas time.

Since 2nd of  June 2010 the points accumulated 60 months (5 years) or longer ago expire every day automatically for good.

The general conditions of participation in the Dunas Club Program have been changed in June 2010.

Dunas Club members will  receive the golden Membership Card, from June on, as soon as they collect  3000 status points, instead of the previous 5000.

On 16th of July the celebration in honour of the Holy Virgin Mary of Carmen, patroness of the fishermen, will take place in several Spanish villages.

The huge renovation of this hotel, that began in June 2007, is not completed yet.

This hotel, that was closed for renovation for a few months, will reopen on the 7th of July 2010.

These country festivals are characterized by the typical Canary clothing of the participants. Every island has its own  typical traditional costume, many of them were designed by Néstor Martín.

For the marathon Open MTB Gran Canary in 2010 about 500 cyclists are expected including the professionals but not the children, who will separately take part in the activity bike&roadsafety.

Heidi, better known as lovely by the staff of Dunas Maspalomas, celebrated her "10th Dunas anniversary" on the 4th of November 2009 at the hotel. In 1999 a new (Dunas) era began for Heidi after lots of travels through countries such as USA, Turkey, Greece, Malta, Israel and Italy.
